bad credit repair - getting help |

Do it your self or get some help with Bad Credit Repair
You can repair your credit yourself, or get some help to cleanup damaged credit. Some tips to get you started. Make a budget. Be realistic about what you afford. If your unable to pay all of your obligations every month, contact the creditor and work something out. Get a copy of your credit report. Check for any mistakes like bills that have been paid but reported as still unpaid, or any information about your credit history that is wrong. Get as many receipts, cancelled checks or letters saying the bill is paid as you can. Make copies of all these documents. If there are bills on your report that you know nothing about, write the creditor (They probably have a special address to report billing disputes) and ask for a copy of your bill. If they can't produce a copy of the bill, you can request that they no longer report that collection. Ask for a letter from them saying that you do not owe them money. Make and keep copies of any letters, emails or other information. Keep a dairy of when and who you talked to. Communication with your creditors can help you avoid damaging credit reports. If you can't pay, call them and work something out. Most will be glad you called and will help you set up a plan, so you can avoid the bad reports. (Ok, really 5 tips, we repeated this one - it's important) You can pay someone to help you reestablish credit, or there are free credit counseling services available.
